The 3rd Entrep Summit Experience

We all had a great time at the 3rd Entrep Summit – Click! Technopreneurs Secrets Revealed. Successful Technopreneurs shared their secrets, stories of success and failures.  I’d like to say thanks to JCI Manila and Catalyst Interactive Marketing for the invites.  I also want to thanks the sponsor for making this event possible. They raffled items from the sponsors, including a Canon G11.  I wish Merrell Shoes joins the sponsor next time.

Here are some of the photos taken during the summit:

Philippine Literature E-books

Even before Apple came out with iBooks, I’ve already been reading books on my Nokia S60 enabled phone.  All I do is download and install an e-book reader on my phone and upload ebooks I downloaded from forums.  Most the books are below 5Mb.  I was able to upload around 50 books and read all of them.  It helped me catch up on my reading.  Although I have a complete of the Harry Potter series, having it on my phone allowed me to read it on the go.  I didn’t have to bring those big hardbound copies I bought.

I have read a lot of e-books from my phone but never have I been able to download a Filipino book.  I would want to see e-book versions Philippine Literature in English from authors like N.V.M. Gonzales and Nick Joaquin.  Amazon sell books but I can’t find an e-book version of Philippine Literature.  Maybe if they made e-book versions of the Philippine Literary Classics, then students would find it cool reading a book on their devices and then eventually get in to the habit of reading.

Winner By Default

Congratulations to Eliseo H. Valendez for winning a ticket to The 3rd Entrep Summit Contest. Here’s his entry:

Aside from the obvious reason of wanting to learn more about Technology Entrepreneurship, I wanna win a ticket for the ’3rd Entrep Summit because I am 100% sure that I would be using what I would be learning not just for my own personal benefit but for those of my readers and the people around me.

I’ve been blogging for almost three years now and I could say that somehow, I’ve been part of many lives who’ve stumbled upon my blog. Please be assured that the learning that I would be getting from the summit will be used properly to equip other people through my posts or by sharing ideas to those who would come my way.

I really love to attend the summit!

By the way, thanks for sharing this. More Power Wentot!

The 3rd Entrep Summit

For the three years now, JCI Manila (Manila Jaycees) has been staging the Entrep Summit – a gathering of prominent entrepreneurs from different fields who share their experience and life lessons in the hopes of encouraging or inspiring individuals to pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations. This year’s Entrep Summit titled “Click! Technopreneurs’ Secrets, Revealed!” will feature trailblazing entrepreneurs who have been successful in tech and digital media related endeavors. This project encapsulates one JCI-Manila tenet that “economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise” and cement JCI Manila as a leadership organization actively participating in the business concerns of young leaders and entrepreneurs. Being the lifeblood of the Philippine economy, the SMEs should consciously adapt and grow with market changes and take steps to attaining their business goals – thus coining the term “Entrep Summit“.

Proceeds from the Entrep Summit 2010 will go to the various JCI Manila community development activities under the “Dare to C.A.R.E” umbrella program for the Smokey Mountain Community which offers various community services to the area such as scholarship, sports program for the youth, livelihood, mentorship, and education to name a few. The Entrep Summit will be held at August 28, 2010, SM Mall of Asia, Center Stage Cinema at 8:00am – 6:00pm. Tickets are available via Ticketnet and at www.entrepsummit.com for Php1200.

Mulat Pinoy offers media grants for citizen journalists

Social media and accessible digital technology have brought about the rise of citizen journalism in the Philippines. In the past year, the local cyber-communities were all abuzz with disaster response, advocacy awareness, and political debate. Mulat Pinoy, a social media initiative on population and development, recognizes the medium’s pervasive nature and potential for engaging new audiences by providing bloggers and other netizens with the Mulat Pinoy Media Fellowship: Philippine Population in Focus.

Traditionally offered to print and broadcast journalists, a media fellowship provides individuals with the technical and financial resources needed to develop and create media output — such as a news feature or documentary — based on an approved proposal. Mulat Pinoy’s media fellowship offers grants for the new forms of reportage available online, such as blog features, podcasts, viral videos, even infographics. Creative treatments are encouraged — as long as there is an identified audience for the intended work, new media formats have an equal chance of receiving grants as its more traditional counterparts. A maximum of P25,000 will be awarded to each selected Fellow.

Payday = Mall Sale

It’s funny how we complain about being poor and yet we rush to malls every payday because payday is synonymous to mall sale.  A shopper buys something on sale which he/she does not even need and yet they’re happy because they bought it on sale.

Imagine the number of people lining up to get to the cashier and the number of vehicles lined up outside because of heavy traffic.  People should try online shops for a change.  I’ve already made a couple of purchases online and didn’t have any problems with it.  I’m currently looking www.finelinens.com and checking if they deliver in the Philippines. You’d never have line up and get stuck in traffic.

Friday the 13th

Today is Friday the 13th. Nothing to be afraid of because I don’t believe in superstitions.  Looking back with what had happened during the day, Friday the 13th  didn’t materialize.

Even if it was my day off, I still woke up early to help my wife prepare Ben for school as she is getting ready for work.  After bidding our goodbyes.  I hurriedly started our laundry to catch the sun.  Friday the 13th is also Laundry the 13th for me. After doing the laundry I went out to withdraw some money from my ATM payroll and got my self a haircut. Friday the 13th is also Payday the 13th. When Ben got home from school, went to the dentist and had oral prophylaxis.  Friday the 13th is also Dental the 13th.  And now I’m finishing some work deadlines. Friday the 13th is also Deadlines the 13th.  So was my Friday the 13th jinxed?

After a long and tiring day I would want to  lie down in a Bioance massage table and get a massage.
