It’s the time of the year when the local entertainment industry presents their entries for the Metro Manila Film Festival hoping to top awards and rule the box office. There is no denying magical/fantasy films gets most of the share of movie goers as they are what the kids want to see, and yes, this is also the time of the year when we spoil our kids.

Every year we make sure to watch at least two films.  One is for our to enjoy and the other for ourselves.  This year we intend to watch My Househusband: Ikaw Na! starring real life husband and wife Ryan Agoncillo and Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo.  I’ve watched their last two films together KKK and SSS and I really wanted to see them together again, in a movie.  No, My Househusband: Ikaw Na! is not a sequel of the first two. It’s a totally new film including ace comedienne Eugene Domingo and directed by no other than Direk Joey Reyes.

I was lucky enough to be able to attend the third leg of their bloggers press conference with the stars of the film it self, Ryan Agoncillo and Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo. The first conference was with director Joey Reyes and followed by Eugene Domingo, unfortunately work got in the way.  Good thing the third installment was after office hours.

The first few questions asked were all about the film My Househusband: Ikaw Na! The film is about a married couple who has a non-traditional set up in which the husband takes care of the kids and in manning the house while the wife looks after putting food on the table.  Along the way, situations arise that test the arrangement and their relationship.  ”Many men today are ‘househusband’ either by choise or circumstance and in this film, we show the hilarious side of it,” said he whose vision for he film was so clear to him that shoting the scenes were often a swift and smooth affair.

Ryan Agoncillo’s dad was once a househusband by choice, to leave his work and take care of the family business. He also mentioned that his brother was in the same situation.

Ryan and Juday’ s can very much relate to their roles since Mia and Rod, the lead characters in the movie, know exactly what it’s like to raise kids, to balance career and family life, to stay best friends with your significant other even after tying the knot, and to be clear on priorities and keep sense of humor especially through thin.

It was really a great night, now I know why my wife likes Juday so much.  She’s an example of what superstars should be.

Christmas is not just for the kids, it’s for the whole family. Treat your self to a movie after the kids watch theirs. My Househusband: Ikaw Na! is surely to become another classic, watch it!
